Kaufman County Emergency Services

District 7 Fire Department

After decades of contracting with the Crandall Volunteer Fire Department, KCESD 7 is now the service provider. 

On April 6, 2026 the Crandall Volunteer Fire Department signed a Resolution to Dissolve along with an Asset Purchase Agreement with Kaufman County ESD 7. 

The ESD absorbed the entire Crandall Volunteer Fire Department. Now together working as one they began implementing the Master Plan that was completed in 2025 to become a full-time department with multiple stations. On February 2, 2026, KCESD 7 board of Commissioners hired Executive Director, Ashley Hunsaker. On June, 2026, KCESD 7 board of Commissioners hired a full-time Fire Chief, Josh Woodham. Exciting updates on the full-time department once all hiring process is completed.
