The Future of Crandall's Fire Protection

Crandall residents,
Your fire and emergency services future is being discussed
tonight.

At the June 15 City Council meeting, the City authorized the City Manager to pursue a contract with the City of Seagoville while opposing annexation into Kaufman County ESD #7. Seagoville will present to the Council tonight, July 6, at 6:30 p.m. at the Crandall Municipal Building.

Kaufman County ESD #7 is already on the ground here. We currently staff five personnel 24/7 with two engines, two brush trucks, and a squad vehicle. Starting October 1, we begin transitioning to a career department, increasing daily staffing to seven while hiring our first full-time firefighters.

In the coming months we are investing directly in this community:

  • Construction begins soon on a new station serving the Heartland area
  • Groundbreaking for our new headquarters and regional training center
  • Early 2027 delivery of two new engines and a ladder truck

These are not temporary services. They are permanent investments in Crandall’s safety, response capability, and potentially lower insurance rates.

We have offered the City a contract for continued professional service at a cost to taxpayers that does not exceed what annexation would cost (currently $0.0880 per $100 valuation) AND with every dollar reinvested locally.

The discussion tonight affects every family, business, and student in Crandall. Please attend the 6:30 p.m. meeting, make your voice heard during public comment, and help ensure our community keeps a local, investing, and accountable emergency services partner.
